Cape Lookout Lighthouse to Open May 12, 2015
HARKERS ISLAND, NC – Cape Lookout National Seashore Superintendent Pat Kenney has
announced that the Cape Lookout Lighthouse will be open for an additional day during the 2015
season. This extra day will allow the lighthouse to be open five days a week for visitors to enjoy
the view from the top. Opening on Tuesday, May 12, the lighthouse will be open weekly through
Saturday, September 19.
Cape Lookout Lighthouse climbing hours and days of operation will be Tuesdays through Saturdays,
9:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. with ticket sales from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. On the holiday weekends, the
lighthouse will be open on Sunday, May 24, July 5, and September 6.
Climbing tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for senior citizens (62 or older), children 11 years of age
and under, and those holding a National Parks and Federal Recreation Lands Access Pass. Tickets
are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and can only be purchased in-person at the site the
day of the climb. There are no advance ticket sales.
Children must be at least 44” tall, and children 12 and under must be escorted by a person at least
16 years old.
Climbing the lighthouse is strenuous—climbing the Cape Lookout Lighthouse is equivalent to
